U.S. Surface Transportation Reauthorization

There’s a transportation fact that’s true today and will remain far into the future: Transportation investments drive real job growth. Passage of the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act has moved the nation in the right direction by streamlining the application process for federal funds and simplifying environmental assessments. Yet, the root cause of our infrastructure investment problem, the decline of the gas tax — which at 18.4 cents has lost 50 percent of its purchasing power since it was last raised in 1993 — remains unaddressed. (more)
